Tablet and Smartphone Ad Impressions Have Skyrocketed a Combined 1,259% in the Past Year
Global smartphone ad impressions are up an amazing 488% in the past year and global tablet ad impressions are up a staggering 771% in the same time. According to InMobi's Mobile Market 2011 Review report, released today, tablet ads served up an incredible 1.2 billion impressions in 2011.
North America is among the fastest growing regions in the world for mobile impressions, skyrocketing 366% last year. The single most potent force in tablet impression growth is Apple's iPad, while both the iPhone and Android handsets drive smartphone ad impressions roughly equally - 33% share of impressions each in North America.
With one in three online consumers expected to purchase a tablet within the next two to three years, and smartphones continuing to rapidly subsume dumb phones all over the world, these numbers should retain momentum through 2012.
