Interesting development in the Seattle tech blogging scene over the last couple days.

After spending the past two years building the technology news site, TechFlash, Todd Bishop and John Cook have broken ties with the Puget Sound Business Journal and have started a site of their own called GeekWire.

The site officially launched yesterday and according to All Things Digital the duo quietly gave notice to the business journal last Thursday.

Cook will serve as the co-founder, CEO and Seattle editor focused on covering startups and venture capital, while Bishop, who is co-founder, president and national editor, will be tasked with covering Microsoft, Google, Apple and other publicly held companies.

Cook and Bishop were former tech reporters at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer before joining the Puget Sound Business Journal to start TechFlash. It turns out after spending so many years reporting on entrepreneurs, they both wanted to try it themselves.
