Since joining Techvibes I've been surprised by the number of people I've talked to that claim they owe their current job to Techvibes. Whether they replied to a job posting on the site, met a great contact at an event, or were tracked down by a recruiter thanks to their forum rep - Techvibes has helped a huge number of tech professionals find their dream job.
The Techvibes Jobs page attracts dozens of new job openings per week and our site traffic is well represented by job seekers. Not a big surprise considering the recent reports of a shortage of tech talent across Canada. According to Linda Leonard of ITAC, there is a fairly ominous storm warning in front of us as far as tech talent in concerned. Great news for employees, not so good for employers.
So if you're in need of a change of scenery or a new challenge, be sure to browse through the current job opportunities on the site. Local technology leaders are hiring: EQO Communications, Maximizer Software, and Top Producer Systems just to name a few.
And if you're one of those people that landed their current gig thanks to Techvibes, be sure to share your success story in a comment to this post.
We've used Techvibes to advertise for a couple of positions in the past, and been quite happy with the results. We were able to target Vancouver-based tech professionals, which I think helped eliminate a bunch of the resume cruft we'd otherwise have to wade through.
Top Producer Systems has been posting jobs on Techvibes for over a year. We have received many quality resumes in response to our job postings on Techvibes. We like the look and feel of the site and the type of candidates it attracts to our postings.
Techvibes is a tremendously valuable source for finding excellent resources! The people involved in the Techvibes community are generally very professional, ambitious and skilled! Combining talented people with a IT/Tech focus is an much needed enterprise in Vancouver. We hope that the quality of recruits/resumes from Techvibes continues to be awesome!
Techvibes is a great resource for jobs in the hi-tech field. I continually recommend it to family and friends seeking quality opportunities. I'm one of those individuals that benefited from applying for a position I found here for PEER 1, which I was then hired for and currently work at... the best job I've ever had!
At the end of 2004, I decided that I wanted to move from Boston to Vancouver. I'm a User Interface designer, and had worked and lived in Boston for about 15 years, but I had next to no business contacts in Vancouver, and wasn't quite sure where to start. Before my wife and I moved, we made an exploratory visit in 2005, when I attended the Massive Tech Show, which at the time had a strong TechVibes connection. I also made postings to the TechVibes site, and used that along with other connections I made during the visit to land my first job in the area (as well as a sponsorship for the Provincial Nominee Program to get Landed Immigrant status).
Vancouver is a schmoozing town; you have to get out and meet people in order to make the right connections. This is not a bad thing, unless you are terrified of meeting new people. But in the intersection of tech and social networking, Techvibes was, and still is, one of the best ways of entering a new job market.
