Techvibes Rides Mobile Wave with Mobify

Posted by Rob Lewis

When we famously relaunched our site with a thoroughly revamped design, our readers loved it.

Of course, there were many bugs and glitches. And a couple of oversights, too. One of those oversights was that our mobile-optimized site no longer worked.

Reading Techvibes on smartphones suddenly became a pain. But perhaps it was a blessing in disguise: we considered our old mobile site to be a little outdated anyway.

So we needed a mobile site, but we didn't have much time—our traffic from mobile has quadrupled since the start of the year. And even though most is from the iPad, smartphones are still a rapidly rising source of our traffic. We needed a new mobile-friendly site as quickly as possible.

That's why we enlisted the help of Mobify, a platform that enables users to build mobile versions of their sites. We had already used them for our last mobile site so we knew they were good. But that was back in 2008 when Mobify was still in infancy (yes, we're early adopters!). What could Mobify do for us now?

In short, what their platform can create is astounding. The proof is in the pudding—it's hard to deny that our new mobile site is sleek, readable, and absolutely stunning to behold.

And the most amazing thing is that you can build these incredible mobile sites yourself by using Mobify's technology. So before you dismiss mobile optimization because it's too expensive or overpriced, visit Mobify. It's actually affordable—you can get started for free—and it's definitely necessary.

We're just one of many pieces of evidence including the freshly launched Beyond The Rack mobile site.
