TED is coming to Canada.

To mark the organization’s 30th anniversary, it just announced today that it plans to move its West Coast conference from Long Beach, California to Vancouver in 2014.

The event will take place March 17th to March 24th at the Vancouver Convention Centre, with the TedActive portion of the conference being held at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler resort.

According to their press release Vancouver was chosen because it is one of the world's great cities, recognized for its livability, walkability, sustainability, innovation – and stunning natural beauty. Of course, the  proximity of Whistler offers a perfect setting for TEDActive as well.

Registration for both TED2014 and TEDActive 2014 opens next week.
