TEDxUBC is taking place on October 23rd in downtown Vancouver at UBC Robson Square.  What’s TEDx?

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading.” The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.

At TEDx events, unique talks given by live speakers combine with TEDTalks videos to spark deep conversation and connections. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.

TEDxUBC will be an inter-scholastic, cross-discipline forum organized by a team of educators, students, alumni and partners with a keen interest in dialogue on transformational forces in Biz and Tech Ed.   Event organizers have labeled the event Fast Forward Ed and have the following questions in mind.

  • As the new decade unfolds, how do we prepare secondary, post-secondary and lifelong learners for a world moving at breakneck speed?
  • What are skills needed by industry vs. skills being taught?
  • Who are the innovators succeeding in achieving learning in an environment of budget cuts, ESL, literacy challenges and wired kids?
  • What is the optimal use of technology in the classroom?

TEDxUBC organizers are looking for speaker nominations and 100 leading thinkers and doers from the fields of education, business and technology.  Apply today to attend.
