TELUS calls consumers broke deadbeats outright, won't stand for people not paying bills

EDITOR'S UPDATE: yes, this is 100% real. Telus pulled it very shortly afterward.

Arpad Barabas, Founder and CEO of Mobizou, reported to us an interesting couple of lines on a Telus website page. Head over to this page, and scroll down to "Why do I need a credit check?" Here, you'll find a lovely sentiment from the company:

[Consumer:] Why do I need a credit check?

[Telus:] You may be broke, therefore highly unlikely to pay your bill.

We just don't want to lose money, you dead beat. You know how it is...

We "know how it is," indeed. Some lower-priced services and perhaps we wouldn't be so broke, eh?

Humour, an accident, or a bold slap in the face to consumers?

I call shenanigans on this. This is either a photoshop or someone copied the source code and changed the text in 'offline' mode.

No company would put up this kind of statement.

This is 100% legitimate, "ePro."

There are a few other screenshots showing the same thing around the Twittersphere currently. I went to the site myself to verify. The quoted text is directly copy and pasted—I only added the brackets for clarification.

Of course no company would put up this kind of statement (deliberately or consciously). That's why it was taken down so quickly.

Makes me wonder what the editor of techvibes was doing looking at that page in the first place.

I guess running this website doesn't pay the bills, literally!

I know someone who works at telus. They had a code drop on the weekend and accidentally used the unfinished code, when they are writing the new code they insert filler for text like this. They obviously aren't supposed to do it like this most just write the alphabet. But yes this is real and someone probably lost their job.

Telus should be very careful with what they put out online, cause if telus customers see that sort of insult, then I can only image what a crap storm would be kicked up by customers phoning them up & insulting them right right back, which maybe telus does deserve i.e. Karma

A couple years ago I switched completely over to Shaw cable from Telus and after pointing out to them several times that I had a 53 dollar credit, they refused to return the money to me. They are the deadbeat non-payers and corporate thieves, not me. I hope they get screwed by a lot of little guys for their greed, Entwhistle needs to earn his 12 million dollar a year bonuses.

I think it's funny. Sure, I understand a bit of ire since we pay so much for mobile service, but I'm SICK of the ultra-sterile corporate language on website. I'm switching to Telus.
