Telus Expands 4G Wireless Network in Manitoba
Telus has turned on more new HSPA+ dual-cell wireless sites in Manitoba, offering more Manitobans a chance to experience "Canada's fastest coast-to-coast 4G wireless network" with manufacturer’s rated peak download speed of "up to 42 megabits per second."
The new wireless coverage includes Selkirk, Victoria Beach, Lockport, Ste. Anne, Steinbach and along Highway 1 to Portage la Prairie. Full coverage will be available in Portage la Prairie in early 2012, with service to Brandon expected next summer, the telco says.
“Our commitment to our customers is to offer the best wireless experience coast-to-coast. We are investing millions of dollars to bring them the most advanced network technologies in urban and rural areas,” said Brent Johnston, vice-president of Mobility Solutions at Telus. “We are thrilled to offer more Manitobans access to our blazing fast network.”
Earlier this year, Telus announced a $22 million investment in Manitoba to further expand and enhance its 4G wireless services. This year's network investment builds upon the $250 million Telus has invested in Manitoba in the last 10 years. The network now reaches 66 per cent of Manitobans.
