Telus to launch App House for smartphones to help customers find the best apps easily

Telus is launching a new default app called App House. The app will come pre-loaded on new BlackBerry 7-powered devices like the Bold 9900. Later, it will be available for BlackBerry OS 5 and 6, as well as the iPhone, Android gadgets, and the Windows Phone 7 by year's end.

Telus says the App House will allow its customers to “directly access best-in-class applications through a gateway residing on their device’s home screen," noting the App House will "live on a customer’s smartphone" (pun intended, Telus?)

"A customer simply clicks on an app in App House and it will provide a direct download or take them to the download page in the appropriate app store," the telco notes in a document. "Content on the portal will include TELUS apps like the TELUS eCare account app, TELUS International Roaming Guide, well known, branded, partnered apps like Rdio and Skype and other top third-party apps.”
