Tether for Blackberry gives your laptop Wi-Fi anywhere

A couple of weeks ago, we told you about the 2010 Crackberry Award winners and highlighted some homegrown Canadian talent for app development. But one app deserves a little extra love from Techvibes: Tether, an app that lets you use your Blackberry as a gateway for wireless Internet service for your laptop.

Everyone’s had the displeasure of paying for Wi-Fi service; hotels sometimes charge $30 a day for the privilege of Wi-Fi, and airports often charge $10 for a mere 30 minutes. Tether makes that a thing of the past. Tether shares the data plan of your Blackberry with your laptop, so as long as you have cell reception, you can access the Internet; no monthly tethering fees required.

All you need to do is buy the app for $49.95, install it, and then choose to connect to your laptop either via USB or Bluetooth. And that’s it. You can browse the web at up to 2.4 Mbps on either a PC or Mac laptop anywhere. Just make sure you don't go over your Blackberry's monthly data amount while on your laptop!
