Tetherberry drops the Berry, keeps on tethering

Blackberry users have been able to tether their laptops to their mobile phones for a while now through an app known as Tetherberry for a while now, but the little app is spreading its wings and will no longer be exclusive to RIM's business friendly smartphones. Instead, the app is being renamed "Tether" and is headed to both Android devices and (presumably) the iPhone. 

But while you can tether your iPhone here in Canada, in the US it's a different story thus far. AT&T has yet to allow tethering...but you woudl think that the creators of Tether wouldn't build their app, and target the biggest smartphone market there is, based solely on whim. Would they?
