Blood donation has always been a selfless act of charity, but up until now it's also been an isolated event. While blood donation is by its nature an anonymous process, Thankyourdonor.ca aims to change that, at least in terms of giving recipients a way to express their appreciation.
The site is the first social media blood donor site in North America, creating an online space where recipients can share their stories, photographs and videos about how their lives have been changed through the receiving a blood donation, donors can for the first time how their efforts benefit others. The site was launched last week as a component of National Blood Donor Week, and a Youtube channel is also being created.
