The iPhone Has Generated $150 Billion in Revenue for Apple Since it Launched in 2007

According to new research from Strategy Analytics, Apple has generated $150 billion in revenue from its iPhone since it launched in June 2007.

A quarter of a billion iPhones have been shipped worldwide in that time.

"This is an impressive achievement," notes senior analyst Neil Shah, "and it illustrates just how popular the iPhone has become during the past five years.”

“The iPhone portfolio has become a huge generator of cash and profit for Apple," adds executive director Neil Mawston. "A quarter of a billion iPhones have been shipped cumulatively worldwide in the first five years since launch and Apple reaches its fifth birthday at the top of its game."

For fun, here's a video of Steve Ballmer laughing at the iPhone in 2007, where he suggests touchscreen devices are useless recommends the "very capable" Motorola Q.
