ThinData goes Trancontinental

Posted by Rob Lewis

Montreal's Transcontinental Inc. announced today that they have acquired permission-based email marketing services firm ThinData Inc. Transcontinental is the largest printer in Canada (sixth largest in North America), the second-largest community newspaper publisher and the country's leading publisher of consumer magazines.

ThinData's product offering makes sense for Transcontinental's value-added services growth strategy and will aid in expanding its database management, direct marketing, and e-marketing capabilities to deliver unique solutions to its clients and media properties.

Transcontinental has approximately 15,000 employees in Canada, the United States and Mexico, while ThinData has 60 employees in Toronto. ThinData's customers are some of North America's most recognized brands, including Aeroplan, Air Canada, Bank of Montreal, Sympatico/MSN, CBC, Canadian Blood Services, Delta Hotels, Points.com, Indigo, Cineplex, M&M Meats and Blockbuster Canada.

Looks like a smart move for Transcontinental as they'll now be able to offer a full complement of online e-marketing capabilities to go along with their offline flyers, direct marketing pieces, catalogues, and magazines.
