In 2009 Facebook introduced the Preferred Developer Consultant (PDC) program to help companies looking for guidance on maximizing their Facebook presence. The goal of the PDC is to connect companies and brands to the resources they need to build with Facebook products and technologies.
Since Facebook last added to the PDC program, the demand for branded Facebook applications and enterprise software has risen to touch tens of thousands of businesses and hundreds of millions of people. Fortune 500 companies use PDCs in their online media campaigns and social content and relationship management products built by PDCs are making waves in the enterprise software space.
Yesterday Facebook announced the addition of 17 companies to the PDC program and there are now three Canadian firms on the list - Syncapse from Toronto and HootSuite and Strutta from Vancouver. A full list of Facebook Preferred Developer Consultants is available online.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that Syncapse's social media measurement tools have been 'preferred' for awhile after all they announced last week that they just raised $25 Million. And everyone reading Techvibes has heard of HootSuite!
But the inclusion of Strutta on the Preferred Developer list is quite the achievement for the Vancouver-based contest platform. It's a good thing we included CEO Ben Pickering on our Digital Media People to Watch in BC list for 2011.
