Three new startups introduced at SproutUp Toronto
Wednesday night saw the return of SproutUp to Toronto after a summer hiatus. This event saw three Toronto-based startups
introduce their business to the Toronto startup community.
The first startup was WineAlign. WineAlign was the "oldest" startup to present this evening being that they have been in business for a couple of years already. They already have over 10,000 registered users and grossed over $35,000 the last fiscal quarter. Not bad for a free social site. WineAlign offers "logical, practical and objective wine buying advice" for Canadians. At present, WineAlign only focuses on the Ontario wine industry and market with plans to expand across Canada.
The second startup actually used this event to publicly launch! JazLife.com gives condo and apartment dwellers in Toronto a place to get specific information related to living in multi-unit residential buildings. This lifestyle website targets local businesses, property managers and, of course, residents. They offer everything from how to find a parking spot to where to find the minutes of the last condo meeting.
Finally, we were introduced to crowd favourite BURSTN. BURSTN is a real-time photo sharing social network which was developed out of Ryerson's Digital Media Zone by Dave Senior and Josh Davey. Dave announced they had just received funding and also used the opportunity to ask if any developers there wanted to be hired!
SproutUp is always a great event. Not only is it a wonderful opportunity to learn about new startups but it is also a great place to network and meet like-minded individuals. If you're in Toronto be sure to check out the next #SproutUpTO.
