Three Startups Graduate from Invest Ottawa Resident Company Program

Invest Ottawa recently recognized three resident companies as they graduated from the organization’s resident company program and moved into their own office space.

The three Canadian tech startups—Giatec Scientific, SageTea, and Tweed, will continue to work with their Invest Ottawa entrepreneur-in-residence and remain eligible for business advisory services as needed.

Giatec will be moving into space on Moodie Drive in Ottawa’s west-end, while Sage Tea has moved to General Dynamic’s EDGE Innovation Centre and Tweed is transforming the old Hershey Factory in Smiths Falls.

Giatec, which provides advanced concrete testing solutions to the construction industry, has nine employees. SageTea uses Text to Software to automate the development of software applications with no additional programing required. The company current has 11 employees. Tweed was established to supply the growing demand for high-quality prescription marijuana to treat symptoms such as chronic pain, muscle spasms, seizures, nausea and loss of appetite.

“Moving to Invest Ottawa was definitely a major turning point for us and a lot of the success we achieved this year has been a result of the support, mentoring and promotion that we received from this great facility,” said David Long, CEO, SageTea.

“It has been exciting to watch these companies grow,” said Bruce Lazenby of Invest Ottawa. “We celebrate their first sales, their first product shipped and their evolution from concept to revenue.”
