TiEQuest 2011 seeking start-ups to compete for investments

TiEQuest 2011 is now accepting applications for their competition, and if you are an entrepreneur with an early-stage company, you won’t want to miss out on this opportunity to connect with venture capital and angel investors in Toronto.

TiEQuest, now in its sixth year, is a competition that gets start-ups and early-stage companies to pitch themselves before a panel of investors from the private equity and venture capital industry. Over $150,000 in prizes are up for grabs, as well as possibly $1 million in investment from the panel for the winning venture.

TiEQuest has been a stepping stone to big successes for several past winners. For example, 2007 entrant CognoVision was recently acquired by Intel after debuting at TiEQuest as nothing more than a concept. Last week, it was announced that 2007’s winner, Echologics Engineering, would be acquired by Mueller Water Products, Inc. for $8 million.

The deadline to apply for TiEQuest is January 31st. A $100 entry fee will be charged, which also gives the entered company membership in The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Toronto for a year. TiE Toronto provides access to mentorship, networking and other benefits for members, and is a great way to build publicity around a venture in the Golden Horseshoe.
