In March, college and university students across Canada raced against the clock to create a mobile game in under 48 hours as part of the Great Canadian Appathon. Now the top three teams will show off the games they made to a panel of judges in a bid to win the $25,000 grand prize. The Great Canadian Appathon will also award $10,000 to the second place team and a variety of category prizes.

Approximately 300 students on 100 teams spent a weekend in March working to develop the next great mobile game. In the end, more than 50 games were completed and submitted. The judges have reviewed the games and the top three entries have been chosen to participate in a live face off in Toronto.

Each team will play their game live for the judging panel, while the game is streamed live from the device onto the giant screen in the square. After conferring, the judges will announce the winners of the $25,000 grand prize, the $10,000 second prize and the 10 category prizes.

The face-off is this Thursday, April 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Yonge-Dundas Square.
