Toronto's Ortsbo translation platform recruits Kiss' Gene Simmons
Toronto's Intertainment Media announced today that rock legend Gene Simmons is now the official spokesperson for their real time, language translation platform Ortsbo.com.
Simmons will lend his personality to help spread the word about Ortsbo's translator platform that integrates seamlessly with the most popular social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter to enable users from around the world to instantly send and receive messages in their native language.
But why Gene Simmons?
Ortsbo believes he is the personification of today's globally connected, multi-cultural citizen. Simmons is fluent in five languages, including English, Hebrew, Hungarian, and German, as well as some Japanese and he's working to add Mandarin to his repertoire.
"Ortsbo has changed my life. I can now instantaneously communicate with fans around the world in their native language. It's opened up so many new doors for me - personally and in business," said Simmons in a press release today.
In addition to his spokesperson role, Simmons apparently created the new Ortsbo logo and is providing artistic direction to the Ortsbo creative team.
Ortsbo boasts more than 9 million unique users each month. Since launch, over 26.9 million unique visitors from more than 170 countries have logged more than 132.7 million minutes using Ortsbo, translating conversations automatically into more than 50 global languages.
Ortsbo parent company Intertainment Media is publically traded on the TSX (symbol: INT) and was up 20% today.
