Metroland Media Relaunches Tradyo App After 2014 Acquisition

Metroland Media has relaunched the Tradyo app after acquiring the Toronto-born startup last year.

The classifieds app offers free listings and  features like instant chat, directly connecting purchasers within communities. The Canadian company first launched in 2011, later winning a Next 36 entrepreneurial initiative in 2012.

“The app represents a wonderful evolution of the community newspaper’s buy and sell classifieds and takes our deep community expertise into the mobile space,” said Terry Kukle, Vice President Business Development and Acquisitions, Metroland Media Group. “Tradyo offers a mobile only experience that will allow people in our communities to easily browse, buy or sell items in their neighbourhood.”

The app allows users to upload items and create listings or to browse for goods based on geographic proximity and specific categories. Transactions are negotiated through in-app private chat, eliminating the need to disclose phone or email contacts and making communication faster and easier.

Tradyo was started by Eran Henig and Gideon Hayden.

The new Tradyo app is available for download through the Apple App Store and on Google Play.
