Canadian marketing and publishing company Transcontinental Inc. has aquired the Montreal-based mobile communications firm LIPSO today.
LIPSO develops mobile communication products including Quick Responce codes, mobile payments and mobile publishing.
The company's mobile publishing solutions are already in use by Rogers Media and CBC/Radio-Canada.
"I'm very happy that our company is now part of a major corporation like Transcontinental, which will ramp up our development. This acquisition will keep ownership of LIPSO technology and its jobs in Canada," said LIPSO president Vivianne Gravel in a press release.
According to the press release, the acquisition will add more services to Transcontinental's marketing and communications offerings including mobile coupons and electronic ticketing.
Marketing and communications sector president Christian Trudeau said the acquision will "confirm our leading position in the delivery of marketing communications solutions."
The purchase amount was undisclosed, but all 30 LIPSO employees, along with the president and CEO join Transcontinental Inc. today.
