Two BlackBerry Executives Leave Company
Two BlackBerry executives have left the company.
According to the Waterloo-based smartphone maker, both executives played significant roles in the launch of BlackBerry 10, which was a success by some measures but a disappointment by more.
T.A. McCann was the vice presisdent of social networks at BlackBerry, overseeing operations of the Canadian company’s BlackBerry Messenger service and other social apps.
Marc Gingras was responsible for research and development for some of BlackBerry 10’s staple apps such as email and calendar. He was also a major part of Hub, one of BB10’s most prominent and favoured features.
“We wish them all the best in their future endeavours,” BlackBerry said in a statement.
Both McCann and Gingras were entrepreneurs who joined BlackBerry after it acquired their startups. McCann founded Gist, acquired in 2011, and Gingras founded Tungle.me, which was also bought in 2011.
A month ago, Richard Piasentin, manager of sales for BlackBerry’s US market, left the company as well.
