Uber Launches Free Taxi Week in Toronto

The taxi industry in Toronto has seen its fair share of headlines in the past few weeks, but none have been more exciting for consumers than this: Unlimited Free Uber taxi rides for every Torontonian, starting today.

Uber has dubbed the event “Free Taxi Week”.

From Monday, September 24th at 6:00am to Wednesday, September 26th at 11:59pm, all taxi rides ordered via the Uber smartphone app will be 100% free to Toronto consumers, up to a limit of $20 per ride. There is no cap on the number of trips an individual can take, and Uber is offering this promotion to existing and new Uber customers.

Uber Toronto General Manager Andrew Macdonald summarized the offer as an invitation to Torontonians to see that the future of on-demand transportation is here: “We’re proud to showcase our recent addition of TAXI to the Uber Technologies platform to the citizens of Hogtown. And what better way to do it than by giving TAXI rides away for free.”

Uber is a mobile application company that offers its technology directly to fully licensed Toronto Taxi and Limousine operators to connect them in real time with their customers.

To download the app for iPhone or Android, log into the app store and create an account, or go to www.uber.com.

When you're ready to order your free taxi, simply open the app, select the taxi vehicle type on the screen, tag their location and request a taxi.
