Uber to Raise Minimum Charge for a Ride to $75

Uber Vancouver announced today that as they move out of their “Secret Uber” phase they’ll be raising their rates to $75 per hour, with a minimum charge for any trip of $75.

Why the rate hike?

The Vancouver Limousine industry is governed by the Passenger Transportation Board (PTB) of British Columbia which sets rules for Limousine services. And in Vancouver the PTB have set a minimum rate for any trip of $75 – regardless of distance or time travelled.

As a result, they’re now forcing Uber to raise their rates to a minimum of $75 per trip.
