Vancouver Board of Trade recruits tech-friendly CEO in Iain Black

by Rob Lewis

Former Liberal cabinet minister Iain Black is resigning as MLA for Port Moody-Coquitlam to start work in early October as Vancouver Board of Trade CEO. Black announced the move along with Premier Christy Clark yesterday.

Black has previously held cabinet positions as minister of labour; minister of small business, technology and economic development; and minister of labour and citizens’ services.

This is great news for the Vancouver tech community. Why?

Black understands technology. In his previous life in the private sector he held top leadership positions at several technology companies including Open Solutions Canada and the Electric Mail Company. He has also worked for IBM.
