The event organizers have gone old-school for this year's BarCampVancouver, the fifth annual BarCamp in the city.
The venue is Vancouver's hottest new spot, the newly renovated and remade Waldorf Hotel, at 1489 East Hastings Street (which had a spectacular opening party this past Halloween), featuring the city's best 1950's Tiki Bar.
The event will be 23 hours long, from 6:00pm on Friday, November 19th to 5:00pm on Saturday, with a kickoff party, followed by an all-night hackathon taking place in several rooms throughout the hotel.
Presentations and demos will start on Saturday morning, with the traditional 'Scheduling Jam' at about 9:30am. Registration is online and as of today there are still spots open.
For those not familiar with the BarCamp movement or who have not attended any of the ones in past years, "BarCamp is an international network of user-generated conferences... They are open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants."
From the Barcamp2010 Wiki it's "an ad-hoc un-conference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees."
