Over the past couple weeks I've run into a half dozen people looking for a small office to share and another half dozen trying to sub-lease space that they no longer need thanks to recent downsizing.
No where is this more prevalent than in Techvibes' neighborhood - Yaletown. Ever since Electronic Arts pulled out of their 22,000 square feet of premium office space, people have been wondering what effect this will have on the office space market. To date, it looks like plenty.
I know of two companies that have taken advantage of the lower lease rates to double down on space now in advance of the recovering economy. These companies are in a unique position where they're eager to lease out 'shared space' until their employee count catches up to their new footprint.
On the other side of the coin, there are even more companies that have recently downsized and are desperate to monetize their surplus office space through a sub-lease.
Either way, I believe there is an opportunity for Techvibes to bring some of these parties together. Starting this Friday, we'll be highlighting a handful of the properties on the market along with some of the people out there that are looking for shared space.
