Vancouver startup Smart Aisles launches Black Friday deal finder

Vancouver startup Smart Aisles has leveraged the American obsession with Black Friday online shopping to gain momentum.

Smart Aisles is a mobile app launched by two British Columbia Institute of Technology graduates, Daniel Haugseng and Kevin Gibbon, plus Nolan Clark, a graduate from the University of Northern British Columbia. The app collects the best in-store deal from various retailers.

Originally getting 200 downloads per day in August, the Android app expanded to the iPad and iPhone and their marketing campaign shifted to a Black Friday focus, which resulted in 5,000 downloads per day. With 80 million consumers in America raring up to shop on Black Friday, Smart Aisles is poised for another few days of explosive growth.
