Vancouver: Wonders Start Here [video]

Posted by Rob Lewis

BCIC's CONNECT Conference took place tonight in Vancouver and it was an unqualified success.

The SOLD-OUT event took place at the new Convention Centre and prior to Lane Merrifield's keynote address the well-fed audience of 1,100+ got a look at the much talked about video Vancouver: Wonder Starts Here. It debuted earlier this summer at the GROW Conference.

Executive Producer Ian Bell worked closely with the Vancouver Film School and video sponsors Microsoft Canada, the Vancouver Economic Development Commission, the BCTIA, and the BCIC to highlight a long list of Vancouver innovations that have had a global impact.

Bell pulled together funding for the project and developed a partnership with Vancouver Film School to shoot and produce it, all while running his startup AppSocial (and making the Top 10 in the 2010 New Ventures competition).

In the process, Bell literally put Vancouver on the map (a Bing map of course) as a successful technology hub in hopes of attracting more of three things to the city: Capital, Talent, and Anchor Companies.

If you enjoyed the video, do Bell a favor and head over to ProfitRide.com and cast a vote for him. He's one of three finalists in a contest that could win him a new Harley Davidson motorcycle and win you a Harley Davidson leather jacket. If Bell wins the motorcycle, he's promised to donate $1,000 to the Canuck Place Children's Hospice in Vancouver.
