Vancouver's Contigo uses location-based service expertise for consumer iPhone app
Vancouver's Contigo released an updated version of their very cool iPhone app called Moby today.
Moby is a private location-sharing application for staying connected with the people that matter to you. Moby lets you quickly and easily share your location with who you want, and when you want, giving you complete control over your privacy.
Moby notifies your friends and family of your whereabouts, lets you share your location for a period of time, or just send a single check in location, and alerts your family and friends when you need help.
The improvements made to Moby and released today are a direct result of user feedback. While iPhone users love the app, they've found that constant usage drains their battery a little too quickly.
Moby now preserves your battery when it's idle (not sharing, not being shared with) and it suspends Moby services when your battery strength drops to 30%. Smart updates.
Location-sharing applications on your smartphone are nothing new, so why use Moby?

Their "Simply Aware" tagline is genius and in the family context should appeal to both parent and child. Simply being aware of the location of their child will give parents the sense of security they want. And from the child's perspective, less annoying texts and calls to check on their whereabouts will be a welcome relief as well.
