Vancouver's Foodtree takes top honours at the Banff Media Festival Digital Launch Pad

Last night, Vancouver startup Foodtree took top honours at the Banff Media Festival Digital Launch Pad, eking out 5 Second Films.

Foodtree is a "global map of local food." It aims to "bring connectedness and transparency to food everywhere, putting information at your fingertips" via a community-based, crowdsourced food database.

A quote of theirs seems silly but, on deeper thought, speaks volumes: “While we can’t shake hands with everyone who grows our food, we can at least be facebook friends.”
