Foodtree is a "global map of local food." It aims to "bring connectedness and transparency to food everywhere, putting information at your fingertips" via a community-based, crowdsourced food database.
A quote of theirs seems silly but, on deeper thought, speaks volumes: “While we can’t shake hands with everyone who grows our food, we can at least be facebook friends.”
The more we know, the better we eat. Foodtree helps people to understand where their food comes from, who produces it, and who handles it as it travels from its source to their plate. Our open, accessible platform empowers people to make informed choices. Check our free iPhone app, built on top of our own platform, that makes sharing photo of fresh food in your community easy and fun.
