Posted by Rob Lewis

For
 the
 first
 time
 in
 Canada,
 a
 group
 buying
 company
 will
 be
 offering
 business
 to
 business
 daily
 deals,
 tailored
 for
 small
 to
 medium
 size
 businesses.

On
 April
 2, Toronto's
 GaggleUp  and
 National Post
 will
 launch
 a strategic
 partnership
 called
 GaggleBiz. GaggleBiz
 is
 a
 daily
 deal
 site
 for
 businesses
 across
 Canada
 and
 is
 committed
to
fostering
industry
involvement
 and
 conversation
within
the
 GaggleBiz
online
community.

Deals will have a strong focus on products and services across a wide range of categories important to SMEs—office supplies, website design, sales and marketing tools, maintenance services, and technology.

GaggleBiz is the brainchild of venture capitalist and entrepreneur Mark Skapinker. Skapinker is a Managing Partner at Brightspark—a VC firm that has recently won the Deal of the Year Award for its successful investment Radian6 which was acquired by Salesforce.com. On the entrepreneur side, Skapinker co-founded Delrina (acquired by Symantec) and founded Balisoft Technologies (acquired by Broadbase Software). More recently, Skapinker is a co-founder of Toronto's iStopOver.

Strategically similar to predecessor GaggleUp and its relationship with Canadian Tire (GaggleUp deals are built and targeted to Canadian Tire customers across the country), GaggleBiz hits the ground running thanks to a partnership with Post Media which will see coast-to-coast exposure in the National Post. Side note: National Post's parent Postmedia is already in the group-buying space with SwarmJam.

When asked about what makes the GaggleUp concept different than all the other daily deal sites, Skapinker had this to say: "We closely align with major corporations like Canadian Tire or the National Post to appeal to new marketplaces. Our offers are predominantly with national merchants looking for long-term e-coupon relationships with new and existing customers. Generally, we focus on where the market is headed and how to work with next-generation opportunities as oppoed to the many Groupon clones".

The
 GaggleBiz
 pre‐launch
campaign starts today and includes an
 array
 of
 exciting
 contest
 prizes
 and
 promotions
 from
 national
 brands
 including
 Grand
 &
 Toy,
 Comwave,
 GelaSkins,
 and
the
Financial
Post.
