Victoria Start-ups get Press

Two Victoria based start-ups that we've blogged about on Techvibes in the past received some great press coverage last weekend in the Vancouver Sun and Globe & Mail.

University of Victoria inspired TeamPages, an online social networking utility for amateur sports, was profiled on Saturday by Ian Walker of the Vancouver Sun. TeamPages CEO Mike Tan shares the story of how TeamPages grew from his frustrations captaining (read 'organizing') a UVIC intramural soccer team.

Kyle Vucko's Indochino received some valuable National coverage from Wendy Leung in the Fashion pages of the Globe & Mail as well. Indochino's tailor-made suits are available online and made-to-measure. After a simple 10 minute measurement process, you're good to go and your new suit arrives at your door by courier within two weeks.

Looks like it's time to add a Victoria Start-Up Index to the mix for March 15th. So if you know of an interesting start-ups from Victoria or Vancouver Island, be sure to add them to the comments of this post.

Disclosure: Techvibes Media Inc. Director Boris Wertz is an investor in TeamPages and Indochino.
