Viigo debuts Project Tango

by Warren Frey | Business

Toronto-based Viigo, the popular mobile content service that recently received a new $1.5 million round of funding, is taking the wraps off of Project Tango, their newest initiative. Viigo is a set of services which not only gives access to an RSS reader but adds CFL scores and weather, entertainment and financial info. Two beta programs will run concurrently, with a private beta for about 2,000 individuals covering the spectrum of Tango's evolving offerings, and a public beta with a much more restricted content set. Available to Blackberry and Windows Mobile devices, Viigo is also a channel for publishers to monetize and extend their reach into the mobile space. And for enterprise users, the service can also be customized to deliver secure information throughout a corporation. The Project Tango beta comes on the heels of two new content deals with Canadian alt-music bible Exclaim! and The Walrus, Canada's answer to the Atlantic and New Yorker.
