The McLuhan International Festival of the Future announced today the launch of the Vortex Videogame Competition, taking place in Toronto on November 3rd - 5th.
The Vortex Competition is a forum for emerging digital media entrepreneurs, where aspiring video game developers have the opportunity to craft their business and technical skills through education sessions at the Vortex Boot Camp on November 3rd.
This year’s competitors are invited to submit their one-page game synopsis for either concepts or prototypes by October 23rd for evaluation by a review panel of experts for a chance to make the pitch to a jury at the Vortex Competition. Four finalists will be selected to compete in the finals taking place on November 5th in front of a judging panel which includes Ubisoft CEO Yannis Mallat and Kevin O’Leary from CBC’s Dragon’s Den and ABC’s Shark Tank.
To commemorate the City of Toronto's 175th Anniversary, Vortex and sponsor The City of Toronto are proud to offer all competitors the opportunity to enter The City of Toronto 175th Birthday Game Competition. The winning game will be accessible from the City of Toronto website which will garner them international exposure.
The winner of Vortex will qualify to receive assistance from TransGaming with bringing their games to market. Once complete, TransGaming will deploy the game on its GameTree network and will include the game within its GameTree.tv property, launching in early 2010, for global CE consumers.
