Waterloo's Allerta is bringing the NHL to your wrist
Your watch just buzzed. Ryan Kesler scored.
Hockey fans will love the convenience of Waterloo-based Allerta's inPulse watch, now with a new mobile app that tracks NHL games and vibrates when goals are scored.
While Allerta is based in Waterloo—meaning its local team would unfortunately be the Toronto Maple Leafs—its founder is a Vancouver native and was obviously inspired by Vancouver's spirited playoff run, its best effort since the legendary 7-game series in 1994 against the New York Rangers.
While you probably have ScoreMobile on your iPhone or BlackBerry, glancing at your watch while stuck at family dinner or in conversation with a long-lost acquaintance is quicker and considerably more subtle too.
Allerta now has more than 50 “watchapps” that can be downloaded from a smartphone, including a new Facebook check-in application.
