Waterloo's I Think Security wants to put powerful security in your pocket

Founded in 2010 with funding from friends and family, porgram grants, and a Toronto angel investor, Waterloo-born I Think Security is rethinking security.

Founder Cedric Jeannot's key product is the Qi. Small in size but huge in potentil, the Qi is tinier than a thumb but acts like a giant titanium vault. It can connect to any computer or mobile phone and encrypts and decrypts files from any location, allowing users to access and share data within a virtual security dome.

The five-employee startup wants to bring powerful, accessible security into the pockets of everyday consumers. Cedric affirms that the Qi system more secure than any competing product on the market, daring competitors to prove otherwise.

Originally, I Think Security looked poised to launch in Silicon Valley, but high costs drove Cedric to his second choice—Waterloo. He recently told Communitech that he now believes Waterloo can truly compete with the valley, saying that Waterloo is where "cool stuff" in tech is happening.
