Wavefront, the community-based commercialization centre focused on accelerating the growth of Canada's wireless and new media development companies, is presenting a seminar in Vancouver, partnered with Simon Fraser University.

The seminar, called Developing Apps for Symbian, is targeted at mobile app developers. It will focus on teaching the basics about developing apps on the Symbian platform, of which more than 300 million mobile phones run the OS of. Developers will learn how to leverage the Symbian Horizon Program, an application-publishing platform that allows developers to write an application once and publish it in dozens of Symbian app stores worldwide, and how to port apps from other platforms to Symbian.

A tour of the various runtimes available to the Symbian developer will be presented along with how to choose the appropriate runtime. Qt provides us with a compelling application and UI framework for C++ allowing you to write web-enabled applications once and deploy them across desktop, mobile and embedded operating systems without rewriting the source code.

The event will take place Friday, May 28th. It starts at 8:30am and runs to 11:30am. The event will take place at Discovery Parks Vancouver, 887 Great Northern Way. There is no cost associated with the event, but pre-registration is required as seating will be limited.
