5 Questions with...Corey Herscu

Your Wednesday morning caffeine fix would not be as strong without this week's edition of 5 Questions starring Corey Herscu.
Corey worked in retail wireless sales before taking the leap into business to business sales. He has thrived in the environment for a number of years before he got the desire for more. Based on his relationships made in the industry and a new found passion for writing, Corey started TheCellularGuru.com as a means to give a fresh look on the wireless industry.
What motivates you to do what you do on a daily basis?
Knowing I am building a brand that people, even if not in the industry, can appreciate and relate to. I also love the ability to share my love for wireless with the masses.
Do you have any success start-up tips for people wanting to create a name for themselves in your industry?
Earn your stripes and be patient. This industry is ruthless and will consume you if you don’t stay grounded with proper support.
In your opinion why is Toronto a hotbed for cool tech start-ups?
Toronto’s tech community is still smaller than San Francisco or New York, so it invites ambitious people to work together in a closely knit environment.
What's your favorite tech toy and social media site and why?
My favorite toy would have to be the iPhone 4, though it has been plagued with controversy it’s still gorgeous and arguably the best phone on the Canadian market.
My favorite social media site happens to be Mashable. I truly enjoy the editorials and since meeting Ben Parr in San Francisco, I’m now able to put a voice to the writing.
Who would you say is one of Toronto's social media/tech stars and why?
I say this without bias, but I think Daniel Bader, the Editor in Chief of TheCellularGuru.com is an up-coming star for the Toronto tech scene. The man is not only a genius, also extremely well versed and never shies away from a bit of controversy.
