What's a BlackBerry? Canadian businesses shifting to Android for enterprise use, study says
New research has revealed that 40% of Canadian company decision makers across all company sizes are considering Android smartphones for business use.
In a space once completely dominated by Research in Motion's roster of capable BlackBerry devices, tides are turning in favour of Google's platform, which has seen market share skyrocket around the world as more and more hardware manufacturers adopt the software and mass market Android-powered devices.
Motorola, recently bought by Google, commissioned the research and believes it is at the forefront of enterprise-savvy mobile devices.
“We are clearly seeing a shift to the Android platform for corporate use as companies of all sizes look to provide a workable mobile culture for their employees”, said Sheldon Hebert, senior director, global enterprise sales, Motorola Mobility. “Motorola Android devices offer an unmatched productivity suite relative to any handset on the market and more robust security features. This means the IT department retains control and business users get their jobs done more efficiently.”
Motorola believes that "business culture has evolved" and says its new Atrix 4G smartphone has all the desired security features IT departments seek such as remote wiping, passwords and autolock, and encyrption.
But Motorola also knows consumers influence which devices they use and aims to appeal to them as well with "rich browsing" and plenty of apps.
What do you think? Is Motorola the new best bet for businesses? Is Android the new BlackBerry?
