The Smart Canadians Lounge: Where Canadians Should Hang Out at SXSWi

by Knowlton Thomas

SXSW Interactive begins this Friday in Austin, Texas, and runs until next Tuesday, March 12.

If you're a Canadian entrepreneur wondering where to hang out, Canada Connects and the Consulate General of Canada in Dallas has you covered.

While most SXSW action happens at the Austin Convention Center, the consulate general will have their own interactive event in the works for Sunday, March 10 at the Hilton Downtown Austin, located in the SXSW Startup Village. Dubbed the "Smart Canadians Lounge," the hangout spot will feature a day of Canadian panels from some of Canada’s most innovative companies (and will end with a mixer and free drinks, par for the course at SXSW).

Daytime programming is slated to include trend-talks, pitch sessions, a networking lounge, and presentations by Canadian entrepreneurs. Panelists include ITAC Health discussing trends on Health-to-Go, Wavefront on mobile innovations, PO-MO talking dynamic display with augmented reality, KNGFU Numerik on new story telling with Canadian broadcasters, and the Banff Centre hosting a pitch panel on media dissemination.

Panels will run from 9am to 5pm in the Smart Canadians Lounge, which will be located on the 4th floor in Rooms 400 and 402 of the Hilton, and will be followed by the Smart Canadians Drinks Party at 6pm.

The event is open to everyone attending SXSW and is not exclusive to Canadians.
