Earlier this week the Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA) opened a new hi-tech "common-use" travelers' lounge at Toronto's Pearson airport (YYZ). The GTAA say the new lounge, which is not restricted to passengers from a specific airline or travel class, is an ideal place for passengers to kick back and relax or get some last minute work accomplished before their flight. The lounge is outfitted with wireless Internet access, computers, printers and monitors, and a couple of big-screen, high-def TVs. Users can also help them self to sundry snacks and drinks when paying the $35 access fee.
Not really a big deal as we've had a similar lounge in the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) for awhile now.
However, in an effort to keep their airport e-bragging rights, YVR announced this week that they are the first major Canadian airport to offer free wireless internet access (WiFi) throughout the terminal buildings. Thanks to 70 antennas at the airport, WiFi is available in the international, domestic and south terminals. Whether it's at the gate or before security, passengers can access the internet for free whenever and wherever they want at YVR.
