Will the Apple iPad soon be involved in newspaper subscription plans?
Many newspapers are ailing and need another revenue stream.
Apple is neither ailing nor in dire need of another revenue stream, but hey, who turns down easy money?
Utilizing the extreme popularity of the Apple iPad, the San Jose Mercury News reports that Apple wants to offer newspaper subscriptions on its tablet device. This would mean that digital versions of newspapers, designed specifically for the Apple iPad, would be offered to consumers, and the newspapers would either share a cut of ad revenue or agree on a flat fee system.
It's an interesting notion that would help a struggling industry, but it's also one step closer to saying bye-bye to print, which would be a tragedy!
