Early this morning there was lots of chatter on Twitter about the WIND Mobile launch.  A visit to the website revealed that the site was also under construction but that a new one would be launched "In a couple of hours."  The launch is taking place at 207 Queen's Quay West in downtown Toronto at 10am.

An online search revealed an initial "spoiler" of the types of phones and initial features to be offered as well as price plans.  The company has refused to comment on leaks on blogs – supposedly posted by insiders. But top industry analysts, said some of the information looked "dead-on," while adding some aspects were likely to change.

What will be the actual announcement? What will be the official price plans and phones?

Stay tuned for more details.

Coverage.  Many people have been concerned with the coverage of WIND's service.  Here's what we have found.  In Toronto, the coverage area is bordered by Hwy 407 in the north.  Coverage extends from Stoney Creek in the west to Oshawa in the east.

Although WIND has promised coverage in Calgary, nothing as of now has been announced.  Stay tuned.

11:32am EST

As of right now coveragein Calgary (and everything outside of "home" coverage mentioned above) is considered "away".

1:45pm EST

WIND announced 4 minutes ago, via Twitter, that Calgary stores and coverage will be announced later this week.

Final thoughts for today:

Things have slowed down today.  However, things will pick up Canada wide as a result of WIND's entrance into the wireless marketplace.  So far their rates are very competitive.  Will their customer service live up to all the hype?  Only time will tell.  WIND does seem to be open to communicating and having conversations with their clients as well as other Canadians who have ideas about what wireless and mobile service should entail.  If the WIND team holds to their promise to listen and act in the best interests of their customers, then the sky is the ceiling for this "start-up".
