Wired Woman Networking Event a Success

Last night I was the guest of Dina Grskovich from the Wired Woman’s mentorship program for their Spring Fashion and Networking event. It was held at Radical Entertainment. There were more than 135 women (and a few men) that represented the diverse technology industry in Vancouver–a great turn out on a Thursday night. The event was held to raise money for the mentorship program, which is a 6-month program that runs from September through February each year. The program helps place a limited number of Wired Woman members in mentoring relationships and these mentors meet with mentees at least one hour, monthly, for the duration of the mentoring relationship.

This program is for women entering or re-entering the work-force and targets women requiring career guidance. This career mentorship experience is enhanced with networking events and education workshops.

There were representatives from Telefilm Canada, Mitacs Accelerate , the Women’s Gaming group (a non-profit created by a gaming enthusiast) and some E-Commerce Marketing gals from BCIT, SFU and UBC: a great pool of young, talented and smart women who all work in IT. If you're interested, the events are open to anyone to attend.  Applications for prospective mentors and mentees in the program are accepted all year long.
