According to VentureBeat's Dean Takahashi, Montreal's Woozworld has raised an additional $6 Million from Telesystems Ventures and iNovia Capital as well as unnamed angel investors.

In 2009 Montreal-based virtual world developer Tribal Nova launched Woozworld - a massive multi-player virtual world for tweens. By mid 2010 Woozworld had spun off from its parent raising a $3 Million in Series A financing round led by iNovia Capital and Telesystems Ventures.

Techvibes named Woozworld CEO Eric Brassard to our Digital Media People to Watch in Quebec list for 2011. At the time Woozworld's 25 person team had grown their world to over 1.7 Million user accounts and 2.5 Million virtual spaces with users in 140 countries.

Today Woozworld users have registered more than 7 million virtual characters, known as avatars, and have built more than 14 million virtual spaces.

Bernard Gerson, a former senior vice president of Disney, has joined the board. Gershon is currently president of GershonMedia, a digital media strategy practice. Eric Brassard, chief executive, said the company’s goal is to make Woozworld the No. 1 safe destination for tweens.
