The Georgia Straight's Stephen Hui has been blogging about blogging for awhile and has turned his attention away from the next month's sold-out Northern Voice conference to highlight the fast-approaching WordCamp Whistler.

While tickets for this year’s Northern Voice sold like hot cakes last week, that conference isn’t the only such event Vancouver-area bloggers and social-media enthusiasts are looking forward to this winter.

On January 24, WordPress users will gather at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Resort for the first-ever WordCamp Whistler.

WordPress is an open-source publishing platform used by many bloggers, including Vancouver’s John Bollwitt, Rebecca Bollwitt (aka Miss 604), and Duane Storey, who are organizing the conference.

Lorelle VanFossen, author of Blogging Tips: What Bloggers Won’t Tell You About Blogging, will deliver the keynote address (WordPress Power User Tips).

Other scheduled speakers include Andy Peatling (BuddyPress), Dave Olson (Are You Worthy?), Dale Mugford (WordPress on the Go), and John Biehler (How to Sex Up Your Blog With Photos and Video).

Tickets cost $50 and are available online until Tuesday, January 20th.
