xtranormal takes DEMOgod award

Seventy-seven start-ups were chosen to present at DEMO 08 in Palm Desert and Montreal-based xtranormal walked away with a coveted DEMOgod award on Wednesday night.

Video is exploding on the web, with millions of users creating content for a worldwide audience. But not everyone wants to appear in front of the camera, and some content is better suited to a more abstract aesthetic. Montreal-based xtranormal is a web-based application that lets users manipulate avatars within pre-configured environments in order to create newscasts, movie clips, and talk shows, as well as for online communication.

A total of 10 DEMOgods were named and here they are the other nine:

The People's Choice Award went to AtlasPost.
