Yahoo Appoints New CEO
Beleaguered tech company Yahoo has finally appointed a new CEO. Scott Thompson, formerly president of eBay's PayPal, will become the chief executive officer and a board member as well.
His role will be effective January 9th, ending Tim Morse's stint, who will return to his position as chief financial officer. Yahoo Chairma Roy Bostock has stated that Scott's core focus will be to continue its "strategic review process"—in other words, figure out what the hell the company actually is and how it can return to its pre-recession glory days.
Carol Bartz was ousted as CEO in September after the company went on a lengthy tumble. However, despite her shortcomings, she pocketed a tidy $10 million severance payout. Yahoo's stock is down slightly on the day.
